The Big Chill [1983]
In The Big Chill, The first full and fond characterization of the “Yuppie”, complete with phony existential angst, self-indulgent sense of entitlement and identity politics belied by conspicuous modes of consumption: In other words, they whine a lot but come together around the Sub-Zero refrigerator, divided-lite cabinets, walk-in pantry with Bremmin Wafers on the shelf, and Mr. Coffee machine on the butcher’s block counter-top. Once again, the aspirational kitchen has a centrally located work table.
